Best time to visit Kerala — an honest month-by-month guide
Tranquil Keralam Team · 12 Mar 2026
Monsoon drama, winter houseboats, summer hills: when each region shines, and when to skip the crowds.
Kerala does not have a single “perfect” month — it has seasons that favour different moods. Winter (October to February) is peak for houseboats, beaches, and first-time visitors: clear skies, comfortable evenings, and lively towns.
Summer (March to May) is warmer on the coast but lovely in the hills. Munnar, Wayanad, and Vagamon stay cooler; early starts beat the heat, and resorts often feel quieter.
Monsoon (June to September) paints the state deepest green. Waterfalls roar, Ayurveda centres fill with guests seeking treatments, and crowds thin on classic circuits. Pack rain gear and flexible plans — roads can slow after heavy rain.
If you want a simple rule: choose winter for a classic first trip, summer for a hill-first escape, and monsoon if you love rain forests and do not mind a wet camera.
